Reports To:                       Food Service Supervisor

 

 

Position Purpose:  Under the supervision of the Food Services Manager, ensures that individualized student dietary needs are satisfied including food preparation, service and clean up.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains that organization, cleanliness, sanitation and safety standards are in compliance with HACCP regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as a backup to assist Nutritionist to resolve the changes in dietary needs, preparations and prescriptions for food and beverage services to students.
  • Satisfies special dietary needs of students in preparation and delivery of meals.
  • Assists Food Services Manager for all special events as needed.
  • Assists the Cook and Food Services Manager with food service and preparation according to standardized recipes and procedures within regulatory guidelines.
  • Assists with food ordering, storage, preparation and production as needed.
  • Performs regular cleaning of the food service facilities.
  • Attends and participates in Professional Development Training as requested by the Food Services Manager.
  • Assists Food Services Manager with food production data entry as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED. Associate Degree or completion of a Culinary Trade School is a plus.

  • Current Food Safety Certification.

  • 5 Years of work related Food Services experience.

  • Knowledge and experience in quantity cooking.

  • Communication skills (oral and written) and confidence in conveying information to all types of members of the community, including teachers, administrators, other staff members and students.

  • Basic Computer Skills.

  • Ability to work as a team member and handle frequent interruptions.

  • Demonstrates good judgment and dependability.

     

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Requires prolonged standing, walking, stooping, twisting and squatting on a constant basis.

  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Repetitive motion of the fingers, hands and wrist.

  • Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials.

  • Must work in a hot, humid environment.

  • Must work in a cold, or below zero environment for short period.
